Product Overview
CompetencyGenie is an AI tool that uses machine learning and natural language processing to assist educators in accurately mapping their assessments, identifying gaps in curriculum, and supporting accreditation compliance.
My Role
I initially worked with our data scientist to generate and shape the data used to train the machine learning model and conduct NLP analysis to extract insights from user-generated content. While discussing the POC with potential customers, I interviewed/hired a nearshore engineering team and managed their work on the MVP and release.
Evolution
Bloom's Taxonomy is widely used in education to categorize learning objectives. It is a valuable tool that guides learning from basic to advanced thinking, ensuring students have a strong foundation before moving on to more complex topics. However, educators often need help in accurately classifying their learning objectives.
Enflux allowed customers to import and analyze their learning objectives and tags, but our customer discussions and data analysis revealed that these objectives were frequently inaccurate or missing altogether. To address this issue, I explored how we could use AI technology to more accurately classify exam items automatically.
With a bank of exam questions on hand, I collaborated with our team to refine the data for our model and utilized NLP analysis to categorize assessments efficiently. After achieving a satisfactory accuracy target, I worked to develop a proof of concept (POC) that received positive feedback from customers. I then interviewed several nearshore companies to work on the minimum viable product (MVP) and managed the workload for the UX and development teams leading to the product's release in 2023
